Prof Matt Worley – the unofficial professor of punk at Reading Uni – takes us on an immersive journey through the vibrant history of British punk and its associated fanzines. Drawing on an extensive range of previously unpublished materials sourced from private collections across the UK, Matt shows that the DIY spirit of punk extended far beyond the music, into commentary, politics, and situationist philosophy. In an age where self-publishing is slick, instant and easy, the world of Letraset, dodgy photocopiers and Pritt Stick is a trip down memory lane for some, and an introduction to a wonderfully analogue world of fandom for others. Matt will be speaking to writer and novelist Cathi Unsworth, author of the recently published Season of the Witch: The Book of Goth.
