Charge your glasses and get your pen out. It’s the annual Name The Literary Festival Beer Competition!
Our friends at Redemption Brewery up in Tottenham are concocting a light summer ale exclusively for the festival and we need a name for it.
The brief this year is to come up with a name to beat the post-election blues. Of course if you were delighted with the election result you’re welcome to enter, but you probably won’t win.
Previous winning entries:
Cask of the Red Death (when we unveiled the Edgar Allan Poe bust on Church St)
Mary Wollstonedraft (to celebrate Caitlin Moran’s feminist event)
Alexei’s Ale (when the lovely Alexei Sayle headlined the Town Hall)
Thirst-On (to thank the lovely Thurston Moore for his support for the festival)
All you have to do is email [email protected] with BEER in the subject line and your brilliantly witty suggestion in the main copy.
WINNERS will get the chance to visit the brewery on brewing day, two pints of the beer at the festival and 2 tickets to Pete Brown (our local beer writer)’s It’s The Drink Talking event on either Saturday 6th or Sunday 7th at 8pm.
And remember, every drink you buy in one of our bars (Budvar Tent, Town Hall, Library Gallery, Abney Hall, St Paul’s Church Hall) helps us fund literacy initiatives for adults and kids in Hackney. Chin chin!
