Author, artist and public speaker Stevyn Colgan is one of the elves who research and write the popular BBC TV series QI and its sister show on BBC Radio 4, The Museum of Curiosity. He is a consultant for the change agency Left/Field London and has been, among other things, a chef, a brewer, a milkman and a comics publisher. He’s written briefing notes for two prime ministers and TV scripts for Gerry Anderson. For thirty years however he was a police officer in London – during which time he was set on fire twice, sworn at by a royal, met two US Presidents and a pope, was kissed by Princess Diana and let Freddie Mercury wear his helmet. In between, he was part of the Met Police’s experimental Problem Solving Unit.
“A model of smart storytelling, cunning insight and pure inspiration” – Stephen J Dubner, co-author of FREAKONOMICS
“Taking lateral and creative thinking and applying them to bigger social problems” – Rory Sutherland, President of the IPA
