Born and brought up in Hackney, Zawe is now being hailed by Hollywood as one of its rising stars. Roles in Fresh Meat and St Trinian’s paved the way for a career playing strong roles. In Character Breakdown, Zawe scrolls through a version of her life. Or is it a version of her art? Or something in between? In it, she encounters glamour, horror, absurdity and questions like: is a life spent more on performance than reality any life at all? Is Hollywood really as glamorous as it seems? Where are we post #MeToo and in an industry that’s had to look hard at its record on diversity? And ultimately what did growing up in Hackney teach her for that Hollywood never could?Buy tickets
