With the Birdcage pub (RIP) in Stoke Newington as its campaign HQ, Led By Donkeys started as a ‘Brexit accountability project’, using political street theatre with the aim of calling out what they describe as the ‘thermonuclear hypocrisy’ of the Tory government. Their satirical approach has been one of the most powerful and media-savvy tools of opposition. They talk to writer and campaigner Melissa Benn about their fascinating story and, in a slightly strange turn of events, will be followed, after a short break, by a Northern Soul DJ set. Bar til 11.
